I was at emergency Dec. 27th at 9:00 am and was seen within the hour. I was hooked up to a Blood Pressure monitor in order for them to better assess me. I then saw a nurse practitioner who told me that my blood pressure was fine. When I first arrived it was 188/93. I did not know the results of the other 3 tests. The nurse practitioner told me that it was normal and if I didn't have a machine would I have been concerned? She did not even look at the hives I complained about which have been bothering me for over 2 weeks and told me to get in touch with my doctor. She added don't come back here unless you have a car accident.

That being said, the Emergency (Triage?) are was rude and confusing. I went to the window to sign in. I say hi and I get a grumpy "If you don't sit down the Doctor wont see you." I guess there is a line of seats you need to sit in and wait for the nurse to come to you? I was confused and angry because I knew there was something very wrong with my daughter. Once I got past sign in, the service was exceptional.

I could write a bloody essay about the patient neglect that occurs in this hospital. Once, my mum had a nosebleed that was uncontrollable due to blood thinners. Dr. JAFFERJEE left me in a room with her and told me to put pressure on her nose. It was done at home. That's why we were there... because it didn't stop. I did it anyway. Then she began to go into shock after bleeding for an hour. No one helped me when I yelled. I'm trained to recognise the signs of shock and treat them to the best of my ability. Her BP plummeted, she became incoherent, was losing consciousness, etc. I kept her awake until JAFFERJEE miraculously appeared and denied everything that had just occurred. He sent us home with a paper on how to treat nosebleeds. In a house of medically trained people and a doctor, it was ludicrous.

Probably the worst service I have ever gotten at a hospital. I understand that every hospital has a wait time. However when there are 5 people in the waiting room it should not take 3 hours to get in the office and then another hour and a half for the doctor to show up to see you. I've had shorter wait times while visiting a full waiting room ER before. 10/10 would not come back ever again.

If you ever have the choice in an emergency situation, go to Guelph or Kitchener for help. You will not be given the appropriate care at Groves Memorial Hospital.

But let's talk about today. My mum sliced her leg open on a broken porcelain toilet bowl. I raced her to the hospital but the 4 inch long, 1/2 inch deep wound was declared "superficial". We waited 15 minutes to be triaged. I tried to elevate the leg on a waiting chair and another patient supplied cleansing wipes. She began to go into shock and no one cared to take a look at her after I screamed for help. The nurse from earlier called me "sweetie" and said that I was being dramatic. After we were finally triaged, we waited 15 minutes longer to see *SURPRISE* JAFFERJEE. My mum has MS and pain for her is about double, if not more, what we would feel in the same situation. Dr. Ignorance gave her nothing for pain, no antibiotics (the wound was near a knee replacement, she was already fighting off an infection, and her immune system was in general quite weak), stitched her up, and told us to leave.

Health care isn't fast in Canada. But it is free. My daughter is alive because of the help I received.
